Option 1: Capture page (no install)
Nothing to install, nothing to approve, works on Windows and Mac in Chrome or Edge. Use this if your IT policy blocks developer mode.
- Open it in its own window and paste the console key below.
- Pick the customer, click Start capture session, choose Entire Screen.
- Chrome opens a small always-on-top Grab button. Drag it anywhere. It floats above the camera portal, so you never switch back to this tab.
- Review footage as normal. Hit Grab last ~45s when you see something.
Leave the capture tab open while you work. Closing it ends the session.
Option 2: Browser extension
Same capture, plus a true global hotkey (Alt+Shift+R) that fires even when Chrome is not the focused app. Needs developer mode until it is published to the Chrome Web Store.
- Download rewind-extension.zip and unzip it somewhere permanent (not Downloads).
- Open
chrome://extensions(oredge://extensions). - Turn on Developer mode, top right.
- Click Load unpacked and pick the unzipped folder.
- Pin the Rewind icon, open it, paste the key, pick the customer, Start session.
If Developer mode is greyed out, your Chrome is managed by policy. Use Option 1, or have the extension published to the Web Store and force-installed from the Google Admin console.
Console key
Same key unlocks this console, the capture page, and the extension. Treat it like a password.
How the capture works
Two buttons, both produce a normal video file:
- Grab last ~45s - a rolling buffer runs the whole time your session is live. Press it after you see the event and it hands you the footage you just watched. No rewinding, no re-scrubbing.
- Record forward - normal start/stop, for an event still playing out.
The buffer lives in memory and is discarded when the session ends. Nothing uploads until you press a capture button.
